Now that Bobby (Call me BOB) Clarke has retired, Canucks GM Dave Nonis seems determined to assume the role of the NHL's most ornery team executive.
In a speech delivered earlier today, Nonis decribed NHL free agency as "a joke" because it means players like Sidney Crosby & Jordan Staal could be free agents at age 25.
Nonis didn't stop there. He also had harsh words for the NHL schedule emphasizing divisional games. "I hate the schedule."
Safe to assume that Nonis will be getting a call from his pal Gary Bettman and a brief chat about "the party line." NHL players & coaches can be fined for criticizing officials or for "conduct detrimental to the best interest of the Club, the League or professional hockey generally." What about GMs?
