Shooting Blanks

The Ottawa Senators are the NHL's highest scoring team.  The team is blessed with some of the league's best snipers, Dany Heatley & Daniel Alfredsson.  Despite this, the Senator's suck when it comes to shootouts. Here's why.

Maybe the Sens should offer to play shorthanded instead of going to the shootout.  Ottawa leads the league with 21 shorties.  Antoine Vermette has scored 6 times while killing penalties, that's 2 more goals than Ottawa has scored in 23 shootout attempts.
